REPORT: Spireites hang on to beat Aldershot
John Sheridan’s side got back to winning ways as they narrowly got the 3 points thanks to goals from Scott Boden and Liam Mandeville.
John Sheridan made two changes to the side that drew to Hartlepool on the road Tuesday night, with Mike Fondop and Charlie Wakefield being dropped to the bench with Scott Boden and Liam Mandeville coming into the team.

2 minutes in and Aldershot had their first chance of the game, Berkeley-Agyepong burst through the midfield and struck a powerful shot that went just over the bar.
A couple minutes later, and the Spireites responded with their own chance, Shots goalkeeper Walker attempted to clear a back pass his clearance fell to Rowley, who attempted to chip the keeper but his effort was just over the bar.
On 7 minutes Aldershot should’ve took the lead after a ball through to Mullings on the right hand side found him with a free shot at goal however, luckily for the Spireites his shot across the keeper narrowly missed the post.
On 11 minutes the visitors took the lead to make it 1-0, Ethan Chislett smashed in a rebound after Panayiotou found himself through on goal down the right hand side and had his effort saved by Shwan Jalal.
Scott Boden almost fired the Spireites back level on 15 minutes, he received the ball in the box turned his defender and struck a low shot that just went wide of the post.
17 minutes in and the Spireites were piling on the pressure, Gevaro Nepomuceno whipped a ball into the box which was met by Tom Denton, who’s head hit the post and out for a goal-kick.
29 on the clock and Aldershot almost doubled their lead, Agyepong got past Yarney in the box and zipped a cross back post to Mullings, who’s touch wasn’t enough to put it in the net as his effort smashed over the bar.
34 minutes in an Gevaro had a good chance to put the Spireites level, the ball fell to him on the left hand side of the box, he hit a shot on the volley to the keepers near post but, the keeper got down well to comfortably save the shot.
40 minutes on the clock and the Spireites got level Scott Boden tapped the ball into bottom left corner after getting on the end of Liam Mandeville’s cross.
The 4th official indicated a minimum of two additional minutes.
Half time finished 1-1.
51 minutes on the clock and after a dull opening to the second half, the Spireites conceded a penalty.
Shamir Mullings was brought down by Shwan Jalal in the box after being put through on goal down the left hand side.
Harrison Panayiotou took the penalty and hit a side-footed effort straight over the bar, thankfully for the Spireites.
On 55 minutes, the Spireites took the lead which some might say against the run of play, as Scott Boden received the ball with his back to goal flicked the ball through to Liam Mandeville, who slotted the ball past the keeper to make it 2-1.
62 minutes on the clock and the Shots should’ve took the lead, a beautiful long range curled effort from Agyepong hit the top left post just denying his team the equaliser.
65 minutes on the clock and Tom Denton made way for Mike Fondo and Anthony Spyrou replacing Scott Boden.
Sam Wedgbury made way for Charlie Wakefield on 67.
74 minutes on the clock and Aldershot thought they had fired level, a ball over top was met by Panayiotou who smashed the ball straight at Shwan Jalal and into the net however, unfortunately for the Visitors Panayiotou was flagged offside.
Aldershot we’re throwing everything they had at the Spireites, and they almost equalised on 82 minutes, Panayiotou had been causing the Spireites problems all afternoon and he almost got Aldershot level as his shot across goal just glanced past the post.
The fourth official indicated a minimum of four additional minutes.
Attendance was announced as 3657 total with 169 Away fans.
