Burton Albion had their first chance of the game on 5 minutes, Oliver Sarkic struck a powerful low shot - with some venom from 30 yards however, his shot met the hands of Shwan Jalal who got down well to save the shot.

8 minutes in and Burton should’ve really levelled up the scores, Ryan Edwards drilled a cross into the box - from the byline, Scott Fraser met the cross with a first-time side-footed effort that was superbly saved by Shwan Jalal.

11 on the clock and the Brewers equalised
through a Spireite mistake, Scott Fraser was found through on goal one on one with Shwan Jalal in the Spireite net, he rounded Jalal and smashed the ball into the empty net - levelling the scores.

The Spireites almost regained the lead straight after on 13 minutes, Anthony Spyrou smashed a shot from 25 yards low and hard beating the keeper but not going in the net, hitting the post - thankfully for the Brewers.

Newly signed full back David Buchanan almost regained Spireites the lead when he received the ball on the edge of the box, turned his man on the left hand side and hit a powerful low shot that was beating O’Hara but, despite his efforts his shot just went wide of the post.

27 minutes on the clock and the League One side took the lead, Liam Boyce headed in from two yards after getting on the end of Scott Fraser’s corner.

Straight after taking the lead, Burton Albion doubled it on 28. Liam Boyce also getting his second after receiving the ball in the box and smashing it into the bottom
right corner with his left foot.

34 minutes in and the Brewers made it 4-1, Ryan Edwards got a ball played through to him on the right hand side, he got round Will Evans to pick up the ball, and then calmly chipped the ball over Shwan Jalal and into the far top corner.

The chances dried up until til half time.

Half time finished - Chesterfield 1 - 4 Burton Albion.

The Spireites made two changes at half time with Luke Coddington replacing Shwan Jalal and Curtis Weston replacing former Burton Albion player Robbie Weir.

Burton Albion made no changes at the interval.

2 minutes after the interval Ryan Edwards was continuing to cause the Spireite defence problems, he received the ball on the half volley on the right hand side, he beat Buchanan and hit a thunderbolt volley just over the bar.

Joe Rowley replaced Scott Boden on 49 minutes.

The Spireites were struggling massively to cope with the persistent long balls over the top and the passes in-behind with the Burton Albion players winning the battle for the ball in those situations most times.

On 53 minutes Oliver Sarkic almost capitalised on a Will Evans mistake, Burton Albion played a poor pass over the top that Will Evans should’ve cleared however, he slipped putting Sarkic through on the left hand side. However, luckily for the Spireites his effort he smashed over the bar.

57 minutes on the clock and the Brewers made their first changes of the game with Lucas Akins replacing Oliver Sarkic and Joe Sbarra replacing Scott Fraser.

The Spireites easily could’ve pulled a goal back on 59 minutes, when Joe Rowley burst forward into the box turned Jake Buxton, and had a free shot at goal, he hit a shot and luckily for the Brewers it went miles over bar.

Straight after that, The Spireites pulled a goal back, Will Evans headed in at the back post from Liam Mandeville’s corner, making it 2-4.

62 minutes in and the Spireites were vamping up the pressure, Joe Rowley put through Anthony Spyrou on the right hand side, Spyrou got into the box and hit a powerful shot across the keeper that looked to be going in but, luckily again for Nigel Clough’s side it hit the post and was cleared.

Anthony Spyrou was replaced by Jack McKay on 64 minutes.

Charlie Wakefield and Jay Sheridan replaced David Buchanan and Liam Mandeville on 70 minutes.

74 minutes on the clock and Laurence Maguire almost pulled one back for the Spireites, he received the ball on the left hand side of the box and hit a shot first time across goal, that was only just saved by O’Hara in the Brewers net.

Sam Wedgbury replaced Jonathan Smith on 75 minutes.

76 minutes in and Laurence Maguire tried at goal again, Jack McKay passed the ball across to him - on the edge. Maguire turned and hit a curled shot over the bar.

80 minutes in and the Brewers made a couple more changes, Jake Buxton and Kieran Wallace were made way for Phillip Brown and Jevan Anderson.

The fourth official indicated 4 additional minutes.

90 + 1 Lucas Akins was put through on goal, rounded Coddington to make it 5-2 to the Brewers.

Full time finished - Chesterfield 2 - 5 Burton Albion.
