‘Brilliant’ To Be Back Says Returning Wedgbury
Saturday saw the Spireites face their first test of pre season as they traveled to near neighbours Staveley. Chesterfield had a two goal lead that they let go of and the game finished 4-4. Some trialist’s impressed whilst many fans would’ve been most excited to see Sam Wedgbury back in action for the blues after 11 months out.
Wedgbury spoke about being back in-front of a crowd again.
“It’s brilliant, obviously you not going to be where you want to be straight away but that’ll come it’s been 11 and a half months since my last game”
After 60 odd minutes back on the field Wedgbury mentioned his delight to get more minuets.
“I was coming off at half time originally which probably would’ve been better which I said to snodds after we conceded the 3 but I said it was a good sub in the end after we ended up going back in-front”
“I was supposed to come off but I asked the gaffer and I got an extra 15 minutes which I’m happy about”.
Wedgbury went on to speak about the new signings.
“We’ve got some good lads, some of the lads have come back real sharp from last year as well and the tempo is really high in training as well now, so hopefully it bodes well for next season.”
The Pre Season tests continue on Monday when the Spireites travel to Hallam and look to regain fitness once again heading into a long and testing season.
