Boxing Day Defeat For Martin Allen's Men


After the Spireites narrow 3-1 defeat to Leyton Orient, Martin Allen made three changes to his side with, Joe Rowley, Michael Nelson and Kyel Reid coming into the side.

Just one minute into the game Solihull were causing problems for the Hosts, Danny Wright got on the end of a early corner however his effort went over the bar.

Minutes later (3rd minute) Michael Nelson failed to clear the ball and it fell straight to Nathan Blissett, he touched the ball down and slotted into the bottom corner - beating Burton in the Spireites goal.

9 minutes in and Martin Allen made his first change of the game, Michael Nelson (who had started the game poorly) was brought off for Alfie Beestin.

13 minutes in and the atmosphere at the Proact Stadium had lifted due to the confidence and quality Lee Shaw was showing.

29 minutes in and after the Spireites rebirth like last 15 minutes, against the run of play the Visitors doubled their lead, through Nathan Blissett again scoring the goal, Jamey Osbourne put in a good corner to the back post, the ball fell to Liam Daly (who was free at the back post) who headed the ball across to Blissett who headed the ball into the top right corner giving Burton no chance, making it 2-0 to the Visitors.

The Hosts almost pulled a goal back on 42 minutes, Joe Rowley whipped a corner In to the near post, Will Evans got on the end of hit but despite his efforts his header went just over the bar.

The Fourth Official indicated a minimum of 2 minutes added time.

Half Time finished 2-0 to the Hosts - ending a poor half for the Spireites.

The official attendance was 4877 including 110 away fans.

The second half got underway and nothing had really changed, Solihull Moors were still on top and they could have got a 3rd, one minute after the restart, Danny Wright burst down the left hand side and found himself in the box one on one with Burton at the by-line, he hit the shot across Burton and his shot hit the inside of the post and was then cleared by Binnom-Williams. 

56 minutes in and Curtis Weston made way for Ify Ofoegbu.

Martin Allen made his third and final change with Robbie Weir replacing the injured Hanani Amantchi on 66 minutes.

The Visitors got their 3rd goal of the game on 73 minutes, Darren Carter curled a free kick (from the edge of the corner flag) over the keeper and into the net to make it 3-0.

Things were getting worse for the hosts, Jermaine Hylton danced his way through the Spireite defence and curled it into the bottom left corner to make it 4-0.

Despite the Spireites playing poorly, they were still creating chances and another one went begging, Robbie Weir got on the end of Joe Rowley's corner and headed it over the bar.

The Fourth Official indicated a minimum of 10 minutes added time.

The Match finished 0-4 to Solihull Moors - a horrible day at the office for Martin Allen's side
