Spireites Still Unbeaten After Dramatic Draw!
After the Spireites got back to winning ways last Saturday against AFC Fylde, they are faced with another tough task of beating 2nd placed Wrexham, this tie this afternoon may bring back a few fond memories from 97 where, the two sides faced in the quarter final of the Fa Cup, with a place in the semi final at stake, everyone knows the Spireites were victorious with a 1-0 win.
Martin Allen made two changes to his side, with Zavon Hines and Jonathan Smith coming into the team for Lee Shaw and Alex Kiwomya.

The Spireites started off the better of the two teams with just 2 minutes played Tom Denton getting on the end of a Sam Muggleton cross however, his effort was straight at Rob Lainton in the Wrexham goal.
Minutes later Chesterfield were to have their second chance of the game, when Joshua Smith and Tom Denton Linked up to find Zavon Hines who curled the ball over the bar.
18 minutes in and Wrexham was a rewarded a penalty because of a Will Evans handball, the ball went over his head and the pressure from the Wrexham striker caused Evans to accidently handle the ball, Brad Walker took the penalty and converted it, putting It down the middle sending Spireites Keeper Burton the wrong way.
Straight after Wrexham could have doubled their lead, through fast counter attacking play from Paul Rutherford and Mike Fondop, Fondop got on the end of Rutherford's cross, to his frustration his half volley effort went over the bar.
The Visitors had all the momentum and confidence now and they were showing that, Akil Wright smashed a shot from thirty yards out, however Callum Burton pushed the shot wide.
28 minutes in and the Hosts almost made it level through similar fashion as they did last week, Jerome Binnom-Williams with the layoff and Will Evans with the Pile driver shot which just went wide of the post, despite many people in the Proact Stadium thinking it went in.
38 minutes in and the Spireites should have been level through brilliant individual play from Zavon Hines, he beat 3 men got into the box and pulled it back for Joe Rowley who skied it over the bar with his weak foot.
The Fourth Official indicated a minimum of 2 additional minutes for the first half.
Half time conclusion: The Hosts started strong creating chances through Tom Denton and Zavon Hines however, the Visitors counter attacking qualities prevailed and eventually through good pressure from the Wrexham forward Mike Fondop forced Will Evans to accidently handle the ball, which awarded Wrexham a penalty. Half Time finished 1-0 to Wrexham.

The Spireites could have easily been level, a scramble in the box between the two teams, led to a Binnom-Williams volley that looked destined to go in the net, luckily for Wrexham the ball hit Lee Shaw in the face, sending the ball out for a throw in.
Chesterfield were starting to take control of the game, putting a number of crosses in the box. Zavon Hines was to a have the next chance for the Spireites, smashing another shot over the bar.
75th minute the Spireites brought on Doncaster loanee Alex Kiwomya in place of Sam Muggleton.
Youth Product Hanani Amantchi, almost equalised for the Spireites with an awesome turn into the box and then a left footed shot that met the hands of Lainton in the Wrexham net.
The Spireites were really piling on the pressure now as Joe Rowley whipped In corner, which Maguire got on the end of however, the Wrexham keeper met the header to keep the Visitors in front.
Minutes later the Spireites were still searching for the chance to bring them level, Zavon Hines fizzed in a ball to the back post but, nobody was there to meet it.
Wrexham were holding on for dear life as, Laurence Maguire should have really brought the scores level, beating keeper Rob Lainton to the ball, his efforts went over the bar.
The Spireites finally got the equaliser theyt deserved through a superb ball to the back post from Laurence Maguire which met Jonathan Smith who bulleted a header into the far post making the scores level.
The match finished 1-1.
Full Time concludes a game of two halves, the first half Wrexham was in control and the second half it was all the Spireites.
