Spireites Off the Mark In FA Cup

Martin Allen made two changes to his side with Haydn Hollis and Jerome Binnom-Williams coming into the starting eleven.

The Spireites started bright but, the hosts had the first chance of the game with Joe Cardle sprinting past the tackle of Sam Muggleton, his shot forced the hands of Callum Burton to be called into action.

The Spireites hit back minutes later with a half volley from Alex Kiwomya going straight to Jay Lynch in the Fylde net.

After the Spireites comfortable start to the game, the Coasters took the lead in the 13th minute, after a poor clearance from Hollis which fell to the clinical feet of Danny Rowe. He smashed it into the bottom corner to give the hosts the lead.

The Spireites equalised through a nicely taken free kick, Jerome Binnom Williams with the layoff and then Evans to drive it in the net, to make it 1-1 in the 25th minute.

Shortly after Fylde almost regained there lead after a cross from Ashley Hemmings, looked to be bending in the top corner, however Callum Burton pulled off a wonderful save to keep the scores even. 

In the 34th minute Chesterfield were given a penalty when Tom Denton was brought down by the Fylde defender. Denton took the penalty and put it in the bottom left corner to give the Spireites the lead. 

2 minutes added time.

Half time ended 2-1 with 2 goals from
 Denton and one goal from Danny Rowe.

The half resumed and the Coasters came fast out the blocks with Danny Philliskirk getting on the end of an Arlen Birch cross, his effort just went over the bar.

56th minute Jerome Binnom Williams made way for Kyel Reid.

1 hour in and the hosts could have easily equalised when Gime Toure beat Laurence Maguire to Joe Cardle’s cross however, luckily for the Spireites his effort didn’t test Callum Burton in the Spireites goal.

63rd minute Zavon Hines entered the field, replacing the very vibrant Lee Shaw.

The Spireites doubled their lead in the 69th minute as Tom Denton gets his second of the game with a bullet header into the Fylde net From a Zavon Hines Corner, to make it 3-1 to the visitors.

In the 80th minute Kyel Reid could have easily made if 4-1 to the Spireites with superb interplay between him and Curtis Weston, Jay Lynch denied the substitute from getting his goal. 

Fylde started to put the pressure on the Chesterfield defence, but they easily managed to deal with Fylde’s constant crosses.

Ashley Hemming’s almost pulled a goal back for the Coasters, with his curling effort just smashing against the bar to keep it 3-1.

5 minutes injury time declared by the fourth official.

90+2: Tom Denton makes way for Levi Amantchi

The Spireites held out and the game finished 3-1 to the Spireites, who will progress to the next round, with goals from Tom Denton and Evans.
