Cusack’s Early Ground Review FC Halifax
First impressions of The Shay
An impressive first visit to the Shay for their match with the Spireites. It has to be remembered that FC Halifax were a full blooded Football league team not so long ago before financial problems saw their demise
and phoenix like rebirth. Things are looking much better now and they are on the brink of a return to League 2 if they can keep up the early season form.
The ground itself would embarrass many a club in the league above. All stands are covered and East and West are seated. The North and South stands cater for those that like a standing terrace. The main entrance is bright and modern. To one side is a modern supporters bar. Limited parking at a reasonable £5
The pitch today looks immaculate and the transparent glazing of the dug-outs gives a clear view of the goings on to those behind.
A very welcoming team for the Press contingent including coffee. The best seats in the house too.
Room for improvements? There is always room for improvements no matter what the club. On the day maybe a press pass and not being forgotten for car parking. The number of Press "connected" work spaces were barely sufficient on the day but I am sure that would change with promotion.
Altogether as a fan a visit would provide a good match day experience 7/10
