MARTIN ALLEN PRE BRAINTREE TOWN
This Saturday, the Spireites will
take on Braintree
Town at the Proact
Stadium, with Martin Allen’s men looking to build on their strong start to the
season. Town are two wins from two so far and sitting pretty at the top of the
table, having conceded 0 goals. When speaking of Tuesday’s victory over Aldershot Town , Allen described the night as
‘special’.
“The atmosphere before the game
was pretty special,” said the Blues boss. “The way that the players performed
once they got on the pitch is something that the Chesterfield paying public have craved for.”
Despite the Spireites winning
start to life in the National League, Allen is still keen for improvement. The
Town manager has started to portray himself as a perfectionist, with him
listing off possible areas for improvement to us at Spire Media.
One of Chesterfield ’s key men so far in this
campaign has been fan favourite Drew Talbot, who has played every minute of the
season so far. With Talbot’s injury history, it seems that the backroom staff
are doing everything they can to keep the 32 year old fit, with games coming
thick and fast.
“Credit to our physio, he doesn’t
get enough credit, Liam [Booth].
“Also a lot of credit to Drew,
because of his mental strength. I gambled by playing him at Ebbsfleet and this
game it actually paid off.
“He’s come through both games,
looking a good player.”
Martin Allen also told Spire
Media that despite the perfect start, the players feet are firmly on the
ground.
“The outside public might expect
the players to be singing and dancing with loud music on, but it really isn’t
like that. It’s a question of ‘job done’, where’s the water?
“As soon as that final whistles
gone we’re immediately onto the next game.”
As for Saturday’s visitors Braintree Town , Allen was quick to praise the
newly promoted side.
“They’re very well organised and
very well coached. They have a young up and coming manager and will be
dangerous.”
A win for Town on Saturday would
see them maintain a perfect start to our debut season in the National League
and mark us out as the early pace setters in this division.
