It’s been another busy week at the Proact, as Martin Allen and his team plan further moves in the transfer market, as well as getting pre-season underway and shift further personnel from the club, while one Spireite shows his delight at the announcement of our newest arrival, Charlie Carter. As well as this, it was announced this week that a grand total of 2647 season tickets have been sold, as of today.

This week it has been announced
that record wage earner Chris O’Grady and central midfielder Jak McCourt have
had their contracts at the club terminated by mutual consent. O’Grady made 35
appearances for Town in a season where he struggled with a back injury
sporadically throughout the season, scoring two goals.
Despite becoming somewhat of a
fan favourite during his year at the Proact, Jak McCourt has also been allowed
to leave the Proact. The 22 year old midfielder scored 5 goals, including a
wonder goal away at Swindon , in 35 appearances
in the 2017/18 season.
Wednesday saw the players report
for the first day of pre-season training, with the players being put through
their paces for the first time of what will no doubt be a gruelling first
season in non-league. The picture gallery on the clubs’ website gave the fans a
chance to see the new boys in action for the first time, as well as familiar faces such
as Drew Talbot back in action. The players seem to be in good spirits ahead of
our first friendly against Sheffield FC at the Coach and Horses stadium on
Saturday, where Martin Allen will hope to put his tactics into practise for the
first time.
Striker Gozie Ugwu expressed his
delight over the signing of attacking midfielder Charlie Carter. Ugwu played
alongside Carter during his final season at Woking ,
where the 25 year old striker scored 24 times in the National League.
Off the pitch, Chief Executive
Michael Dunford has left his role at the club, in order to take up a similar
role at Plymouth Argyle, where he currently lives. Dunford joined the Spireites
in October of last year, but has decided to join Plymouth , as it is closer to home.
As for the future, Martin Allen
has announced that he plans for further signings at the Proact, as he continues
to mould a title winning squad for the upcoming season. It is expected that a
striker and a winger are Allen’s main priorities, as further depth in these
positions is needed.
