Boston United Vs Chesterfield FC Match Report 14-7-18

Chesterfield lined up with a 4-1-3-2
Anyon started in goal with the back four being Ify Ofoegbu, Micheal Nelson, Will Evans and Sam Muggleton. Just in front was Sam Wedgebury. On the left was the Spireites goal scorer Zavon Hines on the opposite side Charlie Wakefield and playing a more central role Joe Rowley. This left the two trialist’s Lewis Walker and Gerry McDonagh.

Muggletons long throws were a threat and having a big presence in Nelson and the Derby trialist proved a handful in the area.

Boston found themselves 1-0 up for it only to be disallowed after number 7 Fowled Sam Muggleton in the area.

From the resulting free kick the ball was lifted towards walker who found he shot saved by the goalkeeper.

Notably Ifys work ethic and desire to press each ball was a sight to see for the travelling supporters and no doubt Martin.
And not to mention his blistering speed which was a handful for the Boston defence.

In the 22nd Joe Anyon made a sensational stop as Adam Marriott slipped passed nelson and hit a low driven shot fortunately Anyon was there.

Chesterfield left puzzled and continued to struggle with Boston’s quick passing and tricky play as they survived another chance as nelson headed clear a cross from Adam Marriott

27 minutes in adam Marriott yet again causing problems fired a thunderous effort into the top left corner and left Joe Anyon stranded.

33 minutes in the Spireites were level after a well worked move, the ball was played into the huge unit Gerry McDonagh headed down only for Zavon Hines to volley into the bottom left corner.

5 minutes before half time Anyon saved the day again as the number number 9 for Boston capitalised on a back 4 mistake luckily Anyon made a great save low to his left.

On the stroke of half time Lewis walker had a great chance to put the Spireies in front but the cross come shot from Wakefield went a whisker wide of the post.

Martin Allen’s men were slow and shaky throughout but showed stints of what his men are set out to do.

The spireites made many changes in the second half bringing on. George smith. Lawrence maguireBinnom-Williams, Bradley Barry and Liam Mcalinden.

Boston changed there team around too but noticeably Dylan Parkin the former Spireite goalkeeper.

Chesterfield started the half now they finished it. Rowley putting in a few good crosses which inevitably caused no danger. The pressure was still there however.

Dylan Parkin denied the spireites taking the lead with a save after a shot from Rowley destined for the top left however Dylan had other ideas.

55 minute Smith put a wonder ball into the area however liam McAlinden header went wide. Mcalinden seamed to be proving a lot of issues for Boston.

60 minutes Shwan Jalal replaced Joe Anyon,
Ugwu replaced walker, Weston replaced Wedgebury, Robbie Weir came on in place of Joe Rowley

The Spireites kept knocking on the door but Parkin was there to answer every time. Ugwu raced through one on one however Parkin denied the Spireites number 10

70 minutes in Bradley Barry hobbled off and it looked a serious one! Barry seamed to land funny on and immediately held his groin.

Carter nicked the ball off the Boston defender and raced through on goal however his shot went well wide.

Number 16 stung the hands of Shwan Jalal with a long range effort around the 80 minute mark.

The fourth official held up 2 minutes however it wasn’t enough for a breakthrough for either side and it finished at Boston 1-1

Chesterfield showed some real attacking intent in the second half but couldn’t force a win. The game showed some real insite into what Martin Allen’s team are set out to do each game.
